Link Google to your account for one-tap sign-in, unlink it later, and why you can't remove your only way in.

Linking Google lets you sign in with one tap instead of typing a password. You can add it at any time, and remove it again later.

Linking Google

  1. Go to Settings → Connected accounts
  2. Choose Connect Google
  3. Pick your Google account and confirm

It appears under Linked accounts with the date you added it. From then on, Log in with Google gets you straight in.

Linking doesn't replace your password. Both keep working, and you can use whichever is convenient.

Unlinking

Choose Unlink next to the account. You'll see "Account unlinked."

Your Gathrings account and everything in it stays exactly as it was — unlinking only removes that way of signing in.

If you see:

You can't remove your only sign-in method. Add a password or link another account first.

then Google is currently the only way into your account, and removing it would lock you out for good. We stop that rather than let it happen.

To get past it, set a password first — Settings → Account → Change password sends you a link to set one. Once that's done, the unlink goes through.

Which Google account to use

Use the one whose email matches your Gathrings account. A different address won't find your account — it would start a new one instead.

If you've already got two accounts this way, write to [email protected] and we'll help you sort out which to keep.

Is Google getting my Gathrings data?

Not at all. Linking lets Google confirm it's you; it doesn't give Google your events, messages or connections. And we don't post anything to your Google account — we only ask for your name and email address so the accounts can be matched.
