Reset your password

Reset a forgotten password from the sign-in screen, or change the one you have from your account settings. Both arrive by email.

Both paths send a secure link to your inbox. You set the new password there, not in the app.

You've forgotten it and can't sign in

  1. On the sign-in screen, choose Forgot username or password?
  2. Enter the email address on your account
  3. Check your inbox for the link
  4. Open it and set a new password

The same link covers a forgotten username, so use it either way.

Links work once and expire. If you let one sit too long, just start again — there's no limit on how often you can ask.

You're signed in and want to change it

  1. Go to Settings → Account
  2. Under Password, choose Change password
  3. Check your inbox and open the link
  4. Set your new password

You'll see "Check your email for a link to set a new password." The app never shows the link itself — it only goes to your mailbox. That's deliberate: it's what stops someone with your unlocked phone from locking you out of your own account.

If the email doesn't arrive

Give it a couple of minutes, then:

  • Check spam and junk. Automated mail lands there more often than it should.
  • Check which address you used. If you have more than one, the link went to whichever one is on the account.
  • Search your mail for "Gathrings" instead of scrolling — it may be threaded under an older message.

If you opened your account with Log in with Google and never set a password, there may be no password to reset. Sign in with Google instead, then add a password from Settings → Account if you'd like one.

Still nothing? Write to [email protected] from the address on the account and we'll sort it out.

Choosing a password

Length beats complexity. A few unrelated words you'll actually remember serve you better than one short word with symbols jammed into it.

Don't reuse a password from another site. That's how most accounts get taken — not by someone guessing yours, but by a leak somewhere else being tried here.
