How to get a refund
Who to ask
Contact the event organizer first. Refunds are issued by the organizer running the event, not by Gathrings — they're the only person who can action one. You'll usually find their contact details on the event page, or you can message them directly through Gathrings.
If you can't reach the organizer, or they don't reply, email [email protected] and we'll help chase it.
There's no refund button on your side. We know that's not ideal, and it's on our list.
What to include
Make it easy to find your order:
- The event name and date
- The email address you used at checkout
- Roughly when you paid
- Why you're asking — organizers have discretion, and a reason helps
How much you get back
Refunds through Gathrings are issued in full — the whole order amount, including tax. There's currently no way for an organizer to refund part of an order.
Whether you get a refund at all is the organizer's decision, guided by our Refund and Return Policy. How close you are to the event matters: requests well in advance are usually granted, requests at the last minute usually aren't.
If the organizer cancels the event, you're refunded automatically. You don't need to ask.
What happens once a refund is issued
Three things happen at once:
- The money goes back to your original payment method. Nothing else is possible — we can't send it somewhere new.
- Your ticket stops working. In My tickets it'll show as Refunded, the QR code disappears, and you won't be able to check in.
- Your spot is released so someone else can take it.
You'll get a confirmation email saying the amount will be returned to your original payment method.
Timing: the refund leaves immediately, but your bank or card issuer decides when it appears — typically 5–10 business days. If it's been longer than that, check with your bank before coming back to us; there's nothing further we can do from our side once Stripe has sent it.
Donations are different
Donations are generally not refundable. They're a gift, not a purchase, and they go straight to the organization.
The exception is a duplicate or mistaken charge — if you were charged twice, or for an amount you didn't intend, contact us within 14 days and we'll sort it out.
Recurring donations are a separate thing. You don't need anyone's help to stop one: go to My donations, find it, and click Cancel. That stops all future payments immediately. It does not refund payments already made.
Still stuck?
Email [email protected] with your event name and the email you paid with, and we'll find the order.
