Your connections

Where your connections live, how to message them, and how to disconnect from someone.

Your connections are the people you've matched with after events — you picked each other, so you're both in.

Find them under My connections, in the menu under your name, or at Settings → Connections.

What you'll see

Each person shows Met at [event], so you've got the context even months later. That's usually enough to place someone whose name hasn't stuck.

If a connection is new, you'll have seen the announcement first:

You're now connected with [name]! 🎉 Tap to start a conversation.

Messaging someone

Choose Message next to their name and you're in the conversation. There's no request to send and nothing to accept — being connected is the permission.

The button appears once a conversation exists between you, which happens automatically when you connect.

Disconnecting

If you'd rather not stay connected, open the menu next to their name and choose Disconnect.

You'll be asked to confirm, and told:

Your chat history will be kept.

That's worth reading twice. Disconnecting removes the connection, not the conversation you already had. Messages you've exchanged stay where they are for both of you.

If you do it by accident, there's an Undo on the confirmation that appears straight after.

Connections on your profile

Your connections appear on your profile. If you'd rather they didn't, that's one of the sections you can set to Only you — see the article on choosing what your profile shows, in Your account.

If you haven't got any yet

No connections yet — meet people at your next Gathring and they'll show up here.

Connections only come from events. There's no way to add someone directly, by searching for them or sending a request — you have to have been in the same room, and you both have to want it. That's the point of the design, and it's why the list stays small and worth having.
