Appearance, language and time zone
Switch between light and dark, change the language, set the time zone event times are shown in, and manage the newsletter.
These all live in Settings → Preferences.
Light or dark
Theme offers three choices:
- Light
- Dark
- System — follows your device setting, so it goes dark when your phone does
System is the one most people want. Pick Light or Dark if you'd rather Gathrings ignore the device and stay put.
The change applies immediately, and to that device. Set it on your phone and your laptop separately.
Language
Gathrings is in English and French. Change it under Language and the whole interface switches.
This changes the app, not other people's writing. An event described in French stays in French whichever you pick — we don't translate what organizers and members write.
Email from Gathrings follows this setting too, so switching here also switches the language of your notifications.
Time zone
Timezone decides what every date and time is shown in. Start typing a city or region to search.
As you pick one, a preview shows "Dates will look like" with a real example — worth a glance to confirm you've got the right one before moving on.
This matters more than it sounds. An event is stored with a real moment in time, and shown to each person in their own zone. Get this wrong and every event looks like it's at the wrong hour — which is the usual explanation when someone says the times look odd.
If you travel, update it when you land, or set it to where you're attending things.
Newsletter
Subscribe to the Gathrings newsletter — updates on new features, tips and community highlights. A few times a year, not weekly.
Subscribing shows "Subscribed. Check your email to confirm" — there's a confirmation step, so it isn't live until you click the link. Unsubscribing takes effect at once.
This is entirely separate from notifications about your own events and rings. Unsubscribing here won't stop those.
