When an event changes or is canceled
How you're told when the time or place moves, what the notices on the page mean, and what happens to tickets.
Plans move. When they do, Gathrings tells you twice: a notification, and a notice on the event page itself.
If something changed
A banner appears on the event reading "Changed since you joined the event."
It doesn't just say something changed — it spells out what, as "Start time changed from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM." The fields it tracks are:
- Start time
- End time
- Location
- Online link
The host may add a short reason, shown in quotes underneath, along with who made the change.
The event also carries an Edited badge so you can see at a glance that it isn't as first posted.
Re-read the whole event when you see this. The banner names the headline change, but a host moving the time has often adjusted other things too.
If it's canceled
The page shows "This event was canceled," with who canceled it and any reason they gave. The event keeps a Canceled badge wherever it appears.
Your RSVP doesn't need undoing — a canceled event is finished, and nothing further is expected of you.
Bought a ticket?
A cancellation doesn't automatically refund you. Refunds are issued by the organizer running the event, not by Gathrings — see How to get a refund under For attendees & donors.
Contact them sooner rather than later. It's a manual step on their side, and they may be dealing with a lot at once.
Making sure you hear about it
Two notification types matter here, in Settings → Notifications:
- Event details changed
- Event canceled
These are the two worth leaving on Email as well as In-App. Everything else can wait until you next open the app; these are the ones where finding out late means standing outside a locked door.
