Home page hero stays in skeleton state after returning with expired session

**What happens:** When returning to the site after the session has expired, the home page renders its layout (header, "Coming Up" heading, "Nearby" heading, "Explore full map" link), but the hero block and the "Coming Up" card grid stay in their skeleton-placeholder state and never load. The page is visibly half-loaded — chrome is there, content isn't. **Evidence:** screenshot shows header in signed-out state ("Log in / Register" visible top-right), large grey hero placeholder spanning the top of the page, four grey skeleton cards under "Coming Up". They stay that way; no eventual render. **Expected:** the home page should render content for signed-out visitors when the session has expired — either the same content a fresh anonymous visitor sees, or a clear "session expired, please log in again" state. The skeleton placeholders shouldn't be left hanging. **Where:** home page (`/`) when the user's session has expired between visits. **Repro:** 1. Sign in. 2. Close the site (close the tab / close the browser). 3. Return to the site after enough time has passed for the session to expire. 4. Observe: header shows "Log in / Register"; hero and "Coming Up" cards stay in skeleton state forever. 5. Workaround that recovers: hard-reload the page. **Started around:** seems to coincide with the recent home-page changes (week of May 10).
